Details of collaboration with Slovenia on safeguarding protected species was the focus of the meeting on 10 May held in Udine, in the congress hall of the regional headquarters. The event was entitled Gestione sostenibile transfrontaliera delle risorse faunistiche (sustainable cross-border management of fauna resources), and organised as part of the Community Programme Interreg IIIA Italy-Slovenia.
The meeting offered the opportunity to present the activities concerning monitoring of the lynx and brown bear that have been carried out by the University of Udine in collaboration with the Regional Ufficio Studi Faunistici (fauna study office), also with input from the Regional Corpo Forestale (forestry agency).

On Sunday 18 May 2008, a competition is to be held at Forni di Sotto in the Dolomites of Friuli, on the spectacular river Tagliamento.
The competition course is some 400 meters long, and will be entirely viewable by the public from the banks of the river.
The course is at difficulty level 4 rapids, while there are six categories of participant: Professionals, Juniors, Amateurs up to 40 years old, Over 40s, Over 50s, and Women.

The purpose of the seminar is to present the added value that some projects, co-financed by 2000-2006 Italy-Slovenia Interreg IIIA Community Initiative Program, have brought to the Program areas.
During the meeting the implementation status of 2000-2006 programming will also be presented, which is about to be concluded and has involved approximately 1,000 public and private subjects belonging to the territory of autonomous region Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Veneto region and the Republic of Slovenia, approving and financing 475 projects.
The seminar represents therefore a moment of consideration of the results achieved so far and an occasion to discuss and analyze the strategy of the new 2007-2013 Program giving the opportunity for potential partners of...
